NeoControl featured in Alternative
Medicine magazine

In the April 2005 issue of the US publication Alternative
Medicine, a feature article titled "May the Force Be
With You" (Issue 76, pg. 74) outlined the recently
escalated movement of practicing medicine utilizing pulsed
electromagnetics. NeoControl was the primary entry listed
under the "Devices to Know About" section.
Indeed, ExMI technology has entered the medical mainstream.

PULSED MAGNETIC THERAPY REVOLUTIONIZE MAINSTREAM MEDICINE
New Non-Invasive Medical Technology May be Answer to a Wide Range of Troubling Conditions
ATLANTA - People who suffer from a host of medical conditions for which researchers have long struggled
to find effective treatments may soon find relief through a breakthrough patented technology
called Extracorporeal Magnetic Innervation (ExMI), which utilizes powerful, pulsed
magnetic fields to stimulate nerve activity in targeted regions of the body.
Currently used to treat urinary incontinence - a condition that impacts an estimated 16 million
women in the U.S. alone - ExMI may have applications for a variety of other conditions, including
depression, epilepsy, Alzheimer's disease and a host of other neurological disorders, providing
a non-invasive alternative to traditional therapies that are often ineffective, highly invasive
or beset with potentially negative side effects. "Magnetism has long been believed to have
therapeutic benefits, but ExMI is the first technology to apply such powerful magnetic
fields in such a precise fashion with clearly evident results," said Tony Morris, CEO of
Neotonus Inc. and co-inventor of the ExMI technology. "We are excited by the potential for
improving the lives of millions of people who suffer from debilitating conditions, and are
diligently pursuing the appropriate clinical trials in close partnership with leading medical
centers in the U.S. and abroad," added Morris.
ExMI was developed by Neotonus in 1997, and was cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in
June 1998 for the treatment of stress, urge and mixed urinary incontinence in women. The first product
to utilize ExMI technology, the NeoControl® Pelvic Floor Therapy System, is currently in use in more
than over 150 urology and obstetrics/gynecology practices throughout the United States and 10 other countries.
To date, more than 18,500 NeoControl treatments have been administered to women with impressive success
rates. Data from studies at the Cleveland Clinic and sites in Chicago, Philadelphia and Orlando indicate
that 50 percent of women who completed six weeks of NeoControl therapy reported being "completely dry" and
an additional 30 percent reported "significant improvement" in their conditions.
NeoControl employs powerful pulsing magnetic fields to stimulate nerve activity in the pelvic floor,
which in turn exercises the muscles that control bladder function, improving strength and endurance and
increasing circulation. While fully clothed, patients undergo a painless, non-invasive 20-minute treatment
twice a week for eight weeks. Sitting in a comfortable chair, the patient will feel her muscles tighten
and relax as they are exercised according to a physician's prescription.
Neotonus recently launched the first study using pulsed magnetic therapy as a non-invasive treatment
for urinary incontinence among men who have undergone radical prostatectomy surgery for prostate cancer.
The study offers hope to the 330,000 men who are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year, many of whom
will require prostate surgery, the leading cause of incontinence in men.
The company is also moving forward in its request for issuance of a patent on its transcranial magnetic
brain stimulator, which can be used for the non-invasive treatment of depression, epilepsy, Alzheimer's
disease and a host of other neurological disorders. The U.S. Patent & Trademark Office recently
determined that a patent application relating to this type of treatment contains "patentable and allowable
subject matter." Based in Marietta, Ga., Neotonus Inc. provides cost-effective, non-invasive healthcare
solutions utilizing advanced pulsed magnetic neuromodulation technologies. The company holds patents
for a broad range of medical applications of its ExMI technology. For more information, call
