Neotonus began manufacturing and marketing devices using its
ExMI technology in September 1998 for the treatment and management
of urinary incontinence. To date, the company has focused
its efforts on its NeoControl® Pelvic Floor Therapy System
developed to treat the most common causes of urinary incontinence.
Since FDA approval in June 1998, NeoControl has been used
in more than 225 urology, obstetrics/gynecology and physical
therapy practices
throughout the United States and 47 other countries to deliver
more than 1 million treatments, with no reported adverse
side effects.
Over 17 million Americans currently suffer from incontinence
and over 16 billion US healthcare dollars were spent for the
management of incontinence in 1998. To date, over 50,000 patients
have been treated with the NeoControl Therapy.
The
company holds a broad range of patents for its pulsed magnetic
technology (ExMI) for medical applications. The patents are
based on the unique ability of ExMI technology to focus its
high energy pulses to penetrate deeply into tissue, without
pain or side effects.
